What the range solves

  • Depths that suit the wall

Every listing gives the assembled depth as well as the width, because the depth is what decides whether a piece fits a hallway.

  • Flat-packed with labelled fixings

Hardware arrives in numbered bags against a printed list, and the taller pieces include the wall anchor they need.

  • Seat heights stated

Stool and table heights are given in inches so a set can be matched to the counter it stands beside.

About Shelf & Seat

Shelf & Seat started with a hallway that could take a console table twenty inches deep and not a half-inch more. Depth, not width, is what rules most furniture out of an apartment, and it is the measurement least often published.

The range is built around that constraint: an arched bookcase deep enough for box files, a narrow console with a shelf under it, a dining table that seats six without spreading, a counter-height set with storage beneath, and a pair of stools that tuck away.

Each listing gives the assembled size rather than the size of the carton, along with the load the shelves and seats will take. Where two people are needed to lift or turn a piece, the listing says so.

Fixings arrive in numbered bags against a printed list, and the taller pieces include a wall anchor. Engineered wood needs a damp cloth rather than a wet one, and every surface here is finished to be wiped rather than scrubbed.

Orders placed before the daily cut-off leave the next working day, and one national carrier handles every parcel.

Upholstered Bar Stools with Backrest, Set of 2

Assembled dimensions on the page

Width, depth, height and the load limit for shelves and seats are published on every listing.

Hardware counted twice

Fixings are counted against the parts list before the carton is closed, so assembly is not stopped by one missing bolt.

Anchor included

Bookcases and tall cabinets ship with a wall anchor and the guidance that goes with it.

Before you order

How deep is the bookcase once built?

Fifteen and a half inches, which is deep enough for a box file. The assembled depth is listed on the product page alongside the width and height.

Do I need two people to assemble the table?

The dining table can be assembled alone with the top upside down, but turning it over once the legs are on needs two people. The listings state where a second pair of hands helps.

Are the stools the right height for my counter?

The seat height is given in inches on each listing. As a rule a counter-height stool suits a counter of about thirty-six inches.

Does the bookcase need to be fixed to the wall?

Yes. The anchor is supplied and should be used, because a tall case loaded with books will tip if it is pulled at.

How should the surfaces be cleaned?

A damp cloth, wrung out, and a dry wipe afterwards. Water left standing on an edge is what swells engineered wood.
